Welcome to the Happy Valley Web Site

Happy Valley is a K-5 Elementary School of approximately 500 students situated in the Happy Valley neighborhood of South Bellingham. Happy Valley School has been recently recognized by the Washington School Research Center, an independent research and data analysis organization within Seattle Pacific University, as one of 16 high performing elementary schools in Washington State. I am also pleased to report that based on a recent perception survey, our parents, students, and staff see our strengths being the creation of a positive learning environment, excellent teachers, and effective partnerships with parents to support student learning and development. Our students consistently perform well on District, State and National Assessments.

We are now in the third year of implementing our new Strategic Plan with a school-wide focus on developing common language and consistent instructional practices in the area of mathematics. We have a professional development program to address adult learning as well as student learning. Happy Valley enjoys a unique partnership with Western Washington University School of Education, with undergraduate and post-graduate university students working in our classrooms.

I like to think of us as a good school with a plan and a commitment to get there. Thanks for visiting.
